Recognition by the Higher Education Academy

The University of South Wales (USW) is committed to developing our staff to the highest possible standard. It recognises that the highest calibre teaching staff lead to an increased quality of student experience. CELT, in its role as the academic staff development unit, provides support for staff who wish to deepen or extend their knowledge and understanding of Learning, Teaching and Assessment.

In addition to CELT’s staff development seminars, CELT facilitates the link between staff and the Higher Education Academy. CELT manages the Continuing Professional Development programme for Teaching and Supporting Learning which leads to recogniton against the HEA UK Professional Standards Framework.

Application process

Important:

We are currently trialling a new system for submitting applications. Please note the new email address.

All applications MUST be sent to fellow@southwales.ac.uk.

Any applications sent to other email addresses will be returned to the sender and not submitted.

All applications must be completed fully and include both of the two references – any applications which aren’t complete will be returned to the sender and not submitted for consideration by the panel. On submitting an application, you will receive an email confirming receipt. Within the next 10 days, you will be contacted by a member of the CELT team either to confirm your written application is going forward to the panel for consideration, or if you are submitting an oral application, to confirm your date and time of presentation. Due to the high number of applications that we receive, we are unable to make significant changes to presentation timings, however we will aim to accommodate requirements where possible.

  • Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their oral presentation within approximately 4 weeks of the presentation date.
  • Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their written application within 4 weeks of the date of the last panel.

Any queries on the completion of the forms, the submission process, or the UKPSF framework please contact fellow@southwales.ac.uk.
All applications MUST be sent to fellow@southwales.ac.uk.
