USW Distinctive Offer: Students as Partners (Newport)

Event Date October 25, 2017 12:45 p.m. – 2 p.m.

Location – Newport City, room A16

Jessica Rumble – manager of the Wise Wales project, based at the National Union of Students Wales.

Wise Wales is a collaboration of sector organisations working to create meaningful partnership between educators, students’ unions and students across Wales. The project supports institutions and students’ unions to develop their partnership ethos and practices, facilitates the sharing of good practice across Wales and the UK, and advocates for students to be partners in shaping their educational experience.

Jess first started working for Wise Wales in November 2014, and prior to this worked in a number of roles at NUS Wales covering remits such as Communications and Campaigns, and Research and Policy. She is also currently a trustee of Student Volunteering Cardiff, supported living provider Innovate Trust, and the Foyer Federation.

This session will explore the concept of student partnership, and the different ways in which students can be partners in their educational experience at every level, from individual modules and courses to institution-wide. Using examples from universities across Wales and the UK, we will consider how to develop a culture of student partnership, and the benefits this has for the institution, its students, and staff. Delegates will then be invited to consider ways in which they can create opportunities for students to be partners in the curriculum design process.

Jessica is also running this seminar on:-
October 25th at Treforest campus, room J325 – 0915 – 1030
October 26th at Cardiff Atlantic House campus, room A301- 0915 – 1030
