AGCAS Wales Conference 2017: Dimensions of Employability

Location – Conference Centre at Treforest

Hosted by the University of South Wales, Conference Centre at Treforest, Pontypridd.

This inaugural conference will be an opportunity to network with others and to share best practice on embedding and delivering dimensions of employability. The Conference has been sponsored by TARGETjobs and is free of charge to all delegates including academic colleagues.

and returning this via email events@southwales.ac.uk .

The Conference will be opened by Professor Helen Langton, Deputy Vice Chancellor at the University of South Wales who has been instrumental in the strategic development of the curriculum and the inclusive approach to delivering Employability.

Dimensions of employability will be explored by Sheelagh Green, the President of AGCAS, who will highlight best practice across the sector in delivering employability which continue to be relevant, not only in meeting the needs of student but remains a priority for our institutions in an environment which is challenging . Euros Evans, Chair of AGCAS Wales, will highlight some of the immediate key priorities for the professional association in Wales.

LMI and the aspiration of our students will explored by dissecting of the Trendence Survey. Tom McCann from GTi will focus on the repsponses from students in Wales to this survey within a national context. Key messages for HEIs from this survey will be further explored as will any impact on the development of student focused employability strategies.

Workshops will build on the Raising Aspirations agenda and will include the following themes – – Employability & Enterprise and the curriculum – Developing Employability Awards – Student engagement strategies – Creative approaches to delivering Work Experience – Careers readiness of students

The development of Special Interest Groups will be discussed as a way forward for professional networking and collaborative working. These groups will be supported by AGCAS Wales in delivering relevant and vibrant approached to key aspects of delivering Employability.
