Rubrics

What is a rubric?

A rubric is marking grid that outlines expectations for an assignment, it provides a set of criteria and scoring scale that describes assignment quality. Rubrics can be used to assist in the marking process, allowing instructors to match assignment content with the differing levels of achievement.

Rubrics can be shared with students prior to an assignment in order to help improve their understanding of the assignment criteria. Alternatively they can be shared after assignments have been graded as part of the feedback process, or not at all.
