Presenting to students in the room only

Quick Start Guides:

  • Present using screen sharing or miracasting;
  • Present by connecting and HDMI cable;
  • Present using a specialist device;
  • Record your session.

Present using screen sharing or miracasting

The following steps will enable you to present to the room by duplicating your device screen on the projector screen.

Step One:

The Wolfvision touch panel is located at the front of the room, or where the computer used to be.

Turn on you portable device and turn on Bluetooth.

Clean the Wolfvision screen with disinfectant wipes provided in the room.
Touch the Wolfvision system screen to start.
The projector will descend automatically.

Step Two:

Select your preferred language, English or Welsh.

Step Three:

On the Wolfvision screen touch ‘Press to Enable’, this will begin the miracasting process.

This connection will be active for 30 seconds.

You can press this button again if the next two steps take longer.

Step Four:

On your portable device access the miracasting function.

Windows:

Use the shortcut: Windows Key + k to open CONNECT.

Mac:

Select the Control Center icon and then select the Screen Mirroring button.

Step Five:

The Wolfvision device name will be listed - the name is the same as the room number you are in.

Select the device.

If you do not see the device listed, repeat Step Three.

Please remember: anything you now show on your device screen will be cast to the main screen in the room.

Step Six:

At the end of your session, disconnect and turn off the system by pressing the off button on the Wolfvision screen.

Use the projector screen as a second monitor

Miracasting to the Wolfvision device automatically duplicates your screen on the projector screen.

If you want to, you can change the settings from duplicate to extend screen, so that the projector screen acts like a second monitor instead. Extending your screen will allow you to open two applications on different screens, one on your portable device and another on the projector screen.

Below are instructions on how to extend the screen on a Windows and Mac device.

Windows

Step One:

On your device access the CONNECT tile (use the shortcut: Windows Key + k to open CONNECT) and connect to the Wolfvision device.

Select 'Change projection mode".

Step Two:

In the Project panel, select "Extend".

Your screen is now extended and you can click and drag an application from your desktop across to the second screen (the projector screen).

To revert the screen back to duplicate at any time,  access the CONNECT panel again, select Change projector mode, and then select duplicate.

Mac

Step One:

On your Mac, select the Apple menu. From there select System Preference, then Display, then select Arrangement.

Follow the on-screen instructions.

The on-screen instructions will tell you exactly what you need to do from this point on.

Present by connecting an HDMI cable

You may prefer to use an HDMI cable to connect your portable device to the main screen.

Step One:

Use the HDMI port next to the Wolfvision system to connect your portable device.

Touch the Wolfvision system screen to start (the projector will descend automatically).

Select your preferred language, English or Welsh.

Step Two:

On the Wolfvision device touch the HDMI icon on the top left side of the screen.

The portable device display will appear on the projector screen.

Please remember: anything you now show on your device screen will be cast to the main screen in the room.

Step Three:

When you have finished presenting, you must disconnect and turn off the system by pressing the off button on the Wolfvision screen.

Present by connecting a specialist device

In teaching rooms where staff need to use specialist software, a PC or iMac will also be installed at the front of the room. These are already connected to the Wolfvision system via HDMI cable.

If you need to use one of these devices to present to students complete the following steps:

Step One:

Touch the Wolfvision system screen to start.

The projected will descend automatically.

Select your preferred language, English or Welsh.

Step Two:

On the Wolfvision device touch the alternative device icon on the top left side of the screen.

The device in the Wolfvision room will now be displayed on the projector screen.

Step Three:

When you have finished presenting, you must disconnect and turn off the system by pressing the off button on the Wolfvision screen.

Record your session

Please note: The details below are an interim solution whilst work on the in-class Wolfvision-integrated Panopto installation is being completed. An update will be added here once this is available for use.

On your own device access the Panopto recorder and use this to record the session.

If you are extending your screen rather than duplicating your screen through miracast, you must record your PowerPoint presentation and not your full screen.

If you are running a session just for in-class students (ie no students are remoting in) then, until further notice, you are limited to using Panopto on your own device (ie your laptop or tablet) to record the session. For information on recording using Panopto, please see: https://celt.southwales.ac.uk/tel/panopto/

Important note: The audio and video for the recording will be limited to your device's camera and in-built microphone, unless you are able to attach an external webcam or microphone to the device when delivering your session.
