Day 9

What’s happening in FCES?

Mirroring Technology

A number of staff in CES are currently trying out mirroring technology in their teaching using a Surface Pro and a wireless adaptor dongle. This allows them to share/project their computer screen without being connected to the podium, and annotate any presentations live. It offers some real flexibility with teaching practices and allows diagrams and annotations to be easily recorded.

Feedback so far has been very positive and several staff will now be working with ITS to trial a university wide solution to wireless mirroring that doesn’t require the addition of dongles.

Hands-on Workshop

How to make the most of Unilearn: Online Reading Lists. 14.00 – 15.00 – Cardiff CAD301.

Rachael Johnson will discuss online reading lists and how they can be embedded within your teaching materials in Blackboard. Rachael will demonstrate the features of the online reading lists system and explain how academics can create lists and add them to their Blackboard modules.

Online reading lists provide students with consistent, current and often instant access to their resources.  Students can personalise their readings and academics can provide guidance within the lists.  In addition, colleagues in the Library work in the background to ensure availability, currency and that there are no issues with copyright.
